Over 500: Pinterest’s creative best practices for ads suggest up to 500 characters. The 800 limit comes from its Pin specs.
Your text stays in your browser. Nothing is sent or saved. Emoji, accented letters and non-Latin characters count once each.
Bloomtack writes a title and description for every pin. From editable templates, or with AI on your own key. You approve each pin before it publishes.
Join the waitlistWhat the counter checks
A pin has two pieces of text: a title and a description. Pinterest limits both. This counter shows how far along you are for each, turns the bar saffron close to the limit and red over it, and marks which part of the title a feed is most likely to show.
How to use it
- Type or paste the title into the first box and the description into the second.
- Watch the counts. The title bar fills toward 100, the description bar toward 800.
- Look at “Shown first in a feed”. Anything in grey is past the first 40 characters and may be cut off.
- Press Copy title or Copy description, then paste the text into Pinterest or your scheduler.
Tips for pin text
- Put the words people search for, and the promise of the pin, inside the first 40 characters of the title. Pinterest says those are the characters most likely to appear.
- You do not have to use all 800 description characters. A clear two or three sentences that say what the page offers is enough.
- Leave a little room if you use many emoji. Pinterest does not say how its own editor counts them, so this tool counts each emoji as one character.
- Write for the person who sees the pin first, then check the counts. A title that fits the limit but says nothing still does not help.
Character counter questions
How many characters can a Pinterest pin title have?
Up to 100 characters. Only the first part usually shows in a feed: Pinterest says the first 40 characters are the most likely to appear, so put the important words there.
How long can a Pinterest pin description be?
Pinterest’s Pin specs say up to 800 characters. Its creative best practices page for ads says 500. This counter uses 800 as the limit and adds a note when you go past 500.
Do emoji count as one character?
Here, yes: each emoji, flag or accented letter counts once, the way you see it. Pinterest does not say how its own editor counts them, so leave a little room if you use a lot of emoji.
Why does the counter mark the first 40 characters of the title?
Pinterest’s own documentation says the first 40 characters of a title are the most likely to appear in front of people. The real cut-off depends on the device and the layout, so treat 40 as a guide, not a guarantee.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The counting happens in your browser. The text is not uploaded, stored or logged.
Does Bloomtack write the title and description for me?
Bloomtack drafts a title and description for every pin from your blog post, using editable templates or AI if you connect your own key. You approve each pin before it is published.
