Pinterest UTM link builder
Add UTM tags to a pin’s link, so your analytics shows which pins and campaigns send readers to your blog. The defaults fit Pinterest.
Source: where the visit comes from. Medium: the kind of channel. Keep both the same on every pin.
Everything happens in your browser. The link you type is not sent or saved.
Bloomtack tracks which pins send readers. You see the pins that bring clicks to your blog, and new pins lean toward the styles that win.

UTM tags are short labels added to the end of a link. When a reader clicks the pin and lands on your blog, your analytics reads the labels and files the visit under the right source and campaign. Without them, a Pinterest visit can end up lumped in with other traffic.
How to use it
- Paste the address of the blog post the pin will lead to.
- Leave source as pinterest and medium as social, or change them to match how you name things in your analytics.
- Name the campaign, for example the post or the season. Add content to tell two pin designs apart, and a term for the keyword, if you want them.
- Press Copy link and paste it into the pin’s destination link.
What each field means
- utm_source: the platform the click comes from. Here, pinterest.
- utm_medium: the channel type, such as social. Use one medium per channel and keep it the same everywhere.
- utm_campaign: the post, season or promotion the pin belongs to.
- utm_content: which version of the pin was clicked, for example design-a or design-b.
- utm_term: the keyword the pin targets. Optional on Pinterest.
Tips
- Google Analytics treats Spring and spring as two different campaigns, so this tool lowercases values by default. Keep one spelling for each campaign.
- Use hyphens or underscores instead of spaces, and keep names short and the same from pin to pin.
- Tag only links you control, such as pins leading to your own blog. Do not add UTM tags to links inside your own site: they can overwrite how a visit is recorded.
UTM link questions
What should the UTM source be for Pinterest?
Use pinterest, in lowercase. Google’s guidance is one source for each platform, written the same way every time, so that your reports do not split Pinterest into several lines.
What should the UTM medium be?
For pins you post yourself, social is a common choice. What matters most is to use one medium for the channel and keep it the same on every link.
Which UTM parameters are required?
Google Analytics says to always use utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. This builder needs a source and a medium, and it warns you when the campaign is empty.
What if my link already has a question mark or UTM tags?
The builder keeps your existing parameters and adds the new ones after them. If the link already had UTM tags, they are replaced and you are told.
Is my link sent anywhere?
No. The link is built in your browser and is not uploaded or saved.
