The image is read and resized in your browser and is never uploaded. The resized copy has no camera or location data, because it is redrawn from the pixels.

    What the checker looks at

Pinterest is a vertical, mobile-first feed. It recommends a 2:3 shape, which is 1000 pixels wide and 1500 pixels tall. The checker reads your image and tells you its size, its shape and its file size, and whether each fits what Pinterest publishes. The resizer then redraws the image at a size you choose.

    How to use it

    1. Drop an image on the box, or tap it to pick a file from your device.
    2. Read the checks on the left. A green dot means it fits; a saffron dot is something to look at.
    3. Choose a size on the right. “Crop to fill” cuts what does not fit; “Keep it all” adds bars of a color you choose. Move the crop position to keep the part you want.
    4. Pick JPEG, PNG or WebP and press Download image.

    Tips

    • Start with a tall image. Cropping a wide photo to 2:3 throws away most of it, so take or choose a vertical shot when you can.
    • Pinterest’s ad specs advise PNG in sRGB to avoid any loss of quality, and say custom color profiles are not supported and can shift colors. JPEG makes a smaller file and suits photos; PNG suits text and flat colors.
    • Keep text and key parts inside Pinterest’s safe zone. Pinterest gives margins of 270 px at the top, 65 px on the left, 195 px on the right and 790 px at the bottom. Pinterest does not say which canvas size they are measured on, so treat them as a guide.
    • Sizes other than 1000 × 1500 and 1080 × 1920 here are our suggestions for the shapes Pinterest lists. Pinterest gives pixel sizes only for those two.

    Pin size questions

What is the best size for a Pinterest pin?

Pinterest recommends a 2:3 shape, which is 1000 × 1500 pixels. It warns that pins with an aspect ratio greater than 2:3 might get cut off in feeds.

Can I use a square or a very tall pin?

Pinterest lists 1:1, 4:5, 3:4, 2:3, 1:2 and 9:16 as shapes it works with. It recommends 2:3, and it states no allowed range for image pins, so 2:3 is the safe choice.

What is the largest image file I can upload to Pinterest?

On the web, Pinterest’s maximum is 20 MB. It accepts BMP, JPEG, PNG, TIFF and WEBP files.

Is my image uploaded when I use this tool?

No. The checks and the resizing happen in your browser. The file is not sent to Bloomtack or anyone else.

Will resizing hurt my image quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Making it larger than the original makes it soft, and the tool tells you when that happens. JPEG output is saved at quality 88, and PNG output is lossless.
