Why a pin or a post is held

Every reason and note Bloomtack can show on a pin or a post, what it means, and what to do about it.

Bloomtack never holds a pin or a post without saying why. The reason is a line of plain words on the pin or the post, with the next step. This page lists every line. None of them deletes anything, and none publishes anything: a pin goes out only when you have approved it, and only when its rules allow.

Two kinds of line exist. A hold says a pin is approved but waits, and why. A note says Bloomtack changed or flagged something, and the pin is not held back by a rule. Posts have notes of their own.

Where you see them

  • Pins and the calendar show a hold under a pin's status, with Change in Settings where a setting changes it.
  • The Review queue shows the hold or note in a pin's details.
  • Reschedule in the review queue shows where each pin landed when it could not go on the day you chose.
  • Posts shows the notes of a post under its title.

Waiting for Pinterest

A post shows Waiting for Pinterest while no active Pinterest account takes its blog's pins. Connect a Pinterest account first. Your posts keep waiting and get their pins once it is. If an account is connected but the blog has none chosen, tick it under Settings, Pinterest accounts; see Connect your Pinterest account and Choose which Pinterest accounts get a blog's pins.

Why an approved pin is held

These are the pacing rules. The sentence moves the pin to a new day, so the pin is not lost. Where a setting is behind it, the line has Change in Settings, which opens Settings, Schedule. See Pacing settings and your posting window for each setting.

After you reschedule pins

When you move pins with Reschedule and one cannot go on the day you chose, it lands on the next day that works, and its line says why:

The line saysWhat it means
That day was already over, placed on Oct 12.The day you chose has passed.
