Choose which Pinterest accounts get a blog's pins
Each blog sends its pins only to the Pinterest accounts you pick, so a food blog never pins to your travel account.
If you run more than one blog or more than one Pinterest account, you decide which blog's pins go to which account. A cooking blog's pins belong on your cooking account, not on the account you keep for travel. Bloomtack never spreads a blog's pins over every account on its own.
When there is nothing to choose
With one blog and one Pinterest account, every pin goes to that account. You see no choice on the screen, because there is only one place to go.
When Bloomtack asks
Bloomtack asks you at the moment a choice appears:
- After you add a second blog: the new blog's page opens with the question "Where should this blog's pins go?" and a checkbox for each Pinterest account.
- After you connect a second Pinterest account: you come back to Settings → Pinterest accounts and the question is "Which blogs go to this account?", with a checkbox for each blog.
Nothing is ticked at first. Tick the ones that fit and press Save choice. Pressing Decide later closes the question without choosing. Until you choose, nothing is pinned for that blog or to that account, and a saffron note says so: "Choose where this blog's pins go". Its button opens the same question again.
Change the choice for a blog
- Open Blogs and pick the blog.
- Open the Pinterest accounts tab. It appears only when you have more than one blog or more than one account.
- Tick the accounts that should get this blog's pins and press Save accounts.
A blog can go to several accounts. Pins you approve are still published one at a time, on each account you ticked.
Change the choice for an account
- Open Settings → Pinterest accounts.
- Under the account, press Choose blogs, tick the blogs whose pins it should get and press Save blogs.
This is the same choice seen from the other side: ticking a blog here ticks the account on that blog's page.
What follows the choice
- Create pins says where the pins will go ("Pins for Crumb & Kettle go to @crumbandkettle"). If a blog has no account chosen, it says so and offers Choose accounts instead of making nothing.
- Review has a Blog and a Pinterest account filter above the queue, so you can look at one blog's pins or one account's pins. The filters are part of the address, so you can bookmark them.
- Pin rules and daily limits work per account, so an account only counts the pins that go to it.
Good to know
- Choosing "none" is allowed. A blog with no account gets no pins, which is useful for a blog you only keep for reading.
- Owners, admins and editors can change the choice. Reviewers and viewers can see it but not change it.
- Workspaces that existed before this choice keep sending every blog to every account until you choose.
If something goes wrong
- A blog gets no pins: open its Pinterest accounts tab. If no box is ticked, tick the accounts it should go to.
- You do not see the Pinterest accounts tab: with one blog and one account there is nothing to choose, so the tab is hidden. Add a second blog or account and it appears.
- An account says "Needs reconnect": you can still tick it, but it only gets pins again after you reconnect it. See Connect your Pinterest account.
