Get an AI key and connect it

Create a key with Google Gemini, OpenRouter or another provider in three steps, paste it into Bloomtack and test it.

An AI key is a long secret code from an AI provider. It lets Bloomtack call that provider for you, billed to your account with the provider. The Key guide on Settings → AI keys has a card per provider with a direct link to its key page, a note on cost and three steps.

Easy starting points

Google Gemini has a free tier with lower limits; paid use is billed by Google.

1. Sign in to Google AI Studio.
2. Press "Create API key" and copy it.
3. Paste it into Bloomtack and press Test.

OpenRouter gives one key for models from many providers, some of them free. Paid models use prepaid credit.

1. Create an OpenRouter account and add credit if you want paid models.
2. Create a key under Settings, Keys and copy it.
3. Paste it into Bloomtack and press Test.

Other providers

OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, Mistral, DeepSeek and Groq work the same way: sign in to the provider's console, add credit if it asks for it, create a key, copy it and paste it into Bloomtack. Groq also has a free plan with rate limits.

Prices change often. Each card links to the provider's own pricing page and shows the date its cost note was last checked.

Connect the key

1. Go to Settings → AI keys and press Add a key.
2. Pick the Provider, give the key a Name you will recognise, such as "Gemini for pin copy", and paste it into API key.
3. Press Save key. Bloomtack tests it at once with the cheapest call the provider offers and shows in plain words whether it works. Test next to the key runs the check again later.
4. Under AI tasks, pick the key and model for each task, then press Save AI tasks.

After saving, Bloomtack shows only the provider, your name for the key and its last four characters. The key itself is never shown again. See How we protect your AI keys.

Keep an eye on cost

Usage on the same page lists each key per month: calls, failed calls and the tokens or images used. Your provider bills you directly; most let you set a spending limit on their side, and we recommend it.

Replace or remove a key

Press Replace to paste a new key; Bloomtack tests it right away. Press Remove, type the key's name and press Remove key to delete it for good. Every task that used it switches to No AI: template copy, no AI images and no AI video.
