Read your pin analytics

Impressions, saves and outbound clicks per pin, per design and per post, and where the numbers come from.

Video guide: Read your results and winning designs (1:40, no sound).

The Analytics screen shows how the pins Bloomtack published are doing, from Pinterest's own daily numbers.

Turn it on

The first time, press Turn on analytics. Bloomtack then reads the daily impressions, outbound clicks, saves and pin clicks of the pins it published, once a day. It reads nothing about pins you made elsewhere, your followers or other accounts, and keeps the numbers 13 months. Pinterest shares these numbers only with business accounts. See Business or personal Pinterest account.

The first numbers appear within a day or two of your first published pin, because Pinterest reports a few days behind.

The tabs

  • Overview: the totals of the range, a chart per day and how the design learning is going.
  • Pins: every pin with numbers in the range, most impressions first, with its post, design and publish date.
  • Posts: the same numbers added up per blog post.
  • Designs: each design's numbers and its chance of being your best design. See Winning designs explained.
  • Insights: the best hours to publish, which copy angles and which boards bring the most clicks.
  • Trends: week by week and month by month, and when the winning design changed.

Pick 7 days, 28 days or 90 days above the numbers; Insights and Trends use their own windows. Download PDF makes a report of the range.

The number that matters most

Outbound clicks are the visits a pin sends to your blog. The outbound click rate is outbound clicks divided by impressions. Bloomtack learns from this rate, because traffic to your blog is the goal. How these numbers work on the screen explains every number.

Good to know

  • Days are calendar days in UTC, as Pinterest reports them, and end on the newest day with final numbers, usually two or three days ago.
  • A pin's first week looks quiet while Pinterest finds its audience. Designs are compared on pins aged 7 to 60 days.
  • Pin links carry UTM tags (utm_source=pinterest), so your own site analytics show Pinterest visits too.
  • Turn off analytics stops the daily reading and deletes every stored number and design result at once.
