Business or personal Pinterest account
Why Bloomtack connects only free Pinterest business accounts, and how to switch without losing anything.
Pinterest has two kinds of accounts: personal and business. Bloomtack connects only business accounts, because only a business account gives Bloomtack the pin results it learns from.
Why a business account
- Pin results: Pinterest shares impressions, saves and outbound clicks only with business accounts. Bloomtack uses them to find the designs that bring you the most clicks.
- The account audit: the one-time audit reads how your top pins did, which Pinterest shows only for a business account. See The one-time account audit.
- Cost: a business account is free.
If you connect a personal account
On Settings → Pinterest accounts, a notice says "Nothing was connected. Bloomtack needs a Pinterest business account. Converting is free and keeps your pins and followers." with a link, How to get a business account. Bloomtack keeps nothing from that attempt.
An account connected before this rule shows the same sentence in its row, with Reconnect beside it.
Switch to a business account
- On Pinterest, open your settings.
- Choose to convert your account to a business account and follow Pinterest's steps.
- In Bloomtack, go to Settings → Pinterest accounts and press Connect Pinterest, or Reconnect on the account's row.
Converting keeps your pins, boards and followers. Pinterest's menus change from time to time; if you cannot find the option, search Pinterest's help for "convert to a business account".
Good to know
- A business account also lets you claim your website on Pinterest, which shows your profile picture on pins that link to it. See Rich Pins and claiming your website.
