Fix blog sync problems
What each blog status means, and what to do when posts do not arrive.
Under each blog's name on Blogs, a status line tells you how its posts are arriving.
What the status means
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Synced 5 minutes ago | All good. The time is the last successful check. |
| First import in progress. | The blog was just added. The first posts usually arrive within a minute. |
| Waiting for the plugin to send posts. | Bloomtack is ready, but the WordPress plugin has not connected yet. |
| Paused. New posts are not imported. | Someone paused the blog. Press Resume to start again. |
| A message in red | The last sync failed. The message says why. Bloomtack retries every hour on its own. |
Posts from the WordPress plugin do not arrive
- In WordPress, open Settings → Bloomtack. Look at Connection and Last sync.
- If it says "Not connected yet.", paste the site key again and press Connect. See Connect the WordPress plugin.
- If it is connected, press Resync latest 50 posts.
- Some hosts turn off WordPress's background tasks. If Last sync never changes, ask your host whether WP-Cron runs, or visit your site once to wake it.
A feed or sitemap blog does not sync
- "Bloomtack could not reach the site": the blog was down or slow. Nothing to do; the next hourly check tries again.
- "The site's robots.txt asks crawlers not to read this page": allow BloomtackBot in your robots.txt.
- "The site answered with an error": a security plugin or firewall may block our reader. Allow the user agent BloomtackBot, or use the WordPress plugin, which sends posts directly.
- The feed moved: remove the blog and add it again with its current address. See Sync, pause or remove a blog.
Some posts are missing
Feeds list only the newest posts. Import older posts by address or from a CSV file. See Import posts by address.
