Import posts by address
Paste up to 500 post addresses, with an optional focus keyword each, and watch the import progress.
Video guide: Add your blog and bring in older posts (1:40, no sound).
Use this to bring in older posts that are not in your feed, or single posts you want pins for now.
Steps
- Go to Blogs, open your blog and choose the Import tab.
- In Post addresses, paste one address per line, up to 500.
- To give a post a focus keyword, add it after a comma:
``text https://crumbandkettle.com/no-knead-sourdough, no knead sourdough https://crumbandkettle.com/roasted-tomato-soup, roasted tomato soup https://crumbandkettle.com/banana-bread-one-bowl ``
- Press Import 3 posts (the button counts your lines).
A progress line shows "Importing 1 of 3" and then "Import finished". You can leave the page; the import keeps running.
From anywhere: Create pins
The Create pins button (the green button in the top bar on a computer, the green button in the middle of the tab bar on a phone) opens the same box. Paste your addresses there and Bloomtack imports the posts into this workspace, designs their pins and puts them in the review queue. Nothing is published without you.
For posts already in Bloomtack, press Create pins in Posts instead: it asks for more image and video pins without importing anything. See Create pins for your posts.
Owners, admins and editors can add posts. Reviewers see a short note instead of the box.
What happens to each address
Bloomtack opens each post and reads its title, description, headings, images and category. Posts already in Bloomtack are updated rather than added twice.
Addresses on another website than this blog are not lost: Bloomtack puts them under a blog for that website, marked "Added by hand" on Blogs.
If something goes wrong
Addresses that could not be read are listed under the progress line with the reason, for example:
- "The site's robots.txt asks crawlers not to read this page, so it was skipped."
- "The site answered with an error. Check that the page is public and try again."
- "That address is not a valid web address. Use a full URL starting with https://."
Fix the address or the page and import just those lines again. For hundreds of posts, a CSV file may be easier. See Import posts from a CSV file.
