Add a blog

Add your blog by its address. Bloomtack finds its feed or sitemap, or offers the WordPress plugin, and starts the first import.

Video guide: Add your blog and bring in older posts (1:40, no sound).

Video guide: Get set up in five minutes (1:45, no sound).

Every pin Bloomtack designs comes from a post on one of your blogs. Adding a blog takes two steps: Bloomtack checks the address, then you confirm what it found.

Steps

  1. Go to Blogs and press Add a blog.
  2. Under Blog address, enter your blog's home page, for example https://crumbandkettle.com.
  3. Press Check this blog. Bloomtack reads the page and tells you what it found, for example "WordPress with 10 recent posts, read from https://crumbandkettle.com/feed".
  4. If the blog has a WooCommerce or Shopify store, tick Import the store's products too, so new products get pins. See Pins for your store products.
  5. Confirm:

If the address is not the right one, press Change address to go back.

You see "Crumb & Kettle added. The first import has started." The first posts usually appear within a minute.

Which option to choose

  • The WordPress plugin sends each post's outline and focus keyword, which makes better pins than the feed alone, and new posts arrive the moment you publish them.
  • A feed or sitemap needs nothing installed. Bloomtack checks it for new posts every 15 minutes.

Who can add blogs

Owners, admins and editors. Only owners and admins can see the WordPress site key.

If something goes wrong

  • "That address is not a valid web address": use the full address, starting with https://.
  • "Bloomtack could not reach the site" or "The site answered with an error": check that the blog is public and the address opens in your browser.
  • Nothing was found: Bloomtack could not find a feed or sitemap. Use the WordPress plugin, or import posts by address. See Import posts by address.
  • "The site's robots.txt asks crawlers not to read this page": your blog blocks our reader, BloomtackBot. Allow it in robots.txt, or use the WordPress plugin, which sends posts directly.
