Approve and skip pins

Approve a pin to schedule it, skip it to set it aside, and undo either within 10 seconds.

Video guide: Review and approve your pins (1:35, no sound).

Every pin needs your yes before it can go to Pinterest, one pin at a time. There is no way to approve many pins at once.

On a computer

  • Press Approve or the A key to approve the pin on screen.
  • Press Skip or the R key to set it aside.
  • Move between pins with the arrow keys, or K and J. Press E to edit the pin's texts; see Edit a pin's text.

On a phone

  • Swipe right to approve, swipe left to skip.
  • The Approve and Skip buttons are always there too; the swipe is only a shortcut.

Undo

Every approve and skip shows a message with Undo for 10 seconds. Press it and the pin goes back to review.

Change your mind later

  • An approved pin that has not gone out yet has Take back approval, which puts it back in review.
  • Skipped pins are in the Skipped tab. Bring back puts one back in review. Their images are deleted after 30 days.

What happens next

Approved pins wait for a free slot and go out at a natural time. See Scheduling and your posting window.

Publish one pin right away

An approved pin has Publish now, in the Approved tab and, once it has a time, behind the pin's options button on the calendar. Bloomtack asks once to be sure, then sends that one pin to Pinterest without waiting for its slot.

  • If the button is greyed out, the line under it says why, for example "Pick a board for this pin first." Fix that and the button works.
  • A published pin cannot be taken back from Bloomtack, and there is no way to publish many pins at once.
  • Owners, admins and editors can publish; reviewers can approve and skip.

When a pin could not be published

The pin moves to the Needs attention tab, with the reason Pinterest gave. Fix the cause if there is one, then press Try again: the pin is approved again and gets a new time slot. Take back approval sends it to review instead.

Good to know

  • Each approval is recorded with who approved it, when, and whether it came from a computer or a phone, as part of the record Pinterest expects.
  • Emails and notices only link to the review queue; they never approve anything.
