What Bloomtack can and never does on Pinterest
The exact list of what a connected account allows, and the things Bloomtack never does.
Connecting Pinterest gives Bloomtack a limited set of permissions through Pinterest's official API. The same list is on Settings → Pinterest accounts, under the accounts.
Bloomtack can
- Read your profile name and account type.
- List your boards so you can map blog categories to them.
- Create a board, only after you confirm it.
- Publish pins you approve, one at a time.
- Read results for the pins Bloomtack published.
Bloomtack never
- Asks for or stores your Pinterest password.
- Follows, saves, comments or messages on your behalf.
- Looks at other people's pins or boards.
- Uses your Pinterest data to train AI.
Why this matters
Pinterest is strict about automation, and so are we. Every pin is approved by a person before it is published, there is no "approve all" button, and Bloomtack only uses the official API. It never automates the Pinterest website or app, so your account is not at risk from how Bloomtack posts.
What Bloomtack stores
Only what it needs: your account ID, the boards you choose, the IDs of pins Bloomtack created, and those pins' results. Tokens are encrypted. Everything else is read from Pinterest when a screen needs it, for example your board list.
When you disconnect an account, its tokens, board mappings and pin results are deleted from Bloomtack. Pins already on Pinterest stay there. See Disconnect a Pinterest account.
