Notifications and preferences

The bell with your unread notices, and how to choose which ones reach you in the app or by email.

The bell shows the notices that need your attention, with the number unread. On a computer it is in the top bar, between the search field and the Create pins button; on a phone it is in the bar at the top. Press a notice to open the page it is about; it is then marked read. Mark all read clears the count, See all opens every notice, newest first, and Settings opens your notification settings.

Repeats of the same notice within 24 hours are grouped into one row with a count, such as "New pins are waiting for your review (12)".

What you are told about

  • Pinterest needs reconnecting, or an AI key stopped working.
  • A blog stopped syncing, or an import you started finished or did not finish.
  • A logo, a template background or an audio file you uploaded could not be used, when its checks took longer than the page waited. The notice says why and opens the page where you upload it again. It reaches you in the app only.
  • New pins are waiting for review, a pin went live, or a pin failed to publish.
  • Your approved pins are running low, so posting may pause.
  • Support replied to your request.

Choose where notices reach you

In Settings, Notifications, turn each kind of notice on or off, in the app, by email and, once it is connected, in Slack. The change saves at once. Security and billing notices always reach you and cannot be turned off.

Optional emails further down the same page are Setup tips, Weekly summary and Tips and news. See Unsubscribe from emails.

Slack

  1. In Slack, add the Incoming Webhooks app to your workspace, pick the channel for your notices and copy its webhook URL. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.
  2. In Settings, Notifications, paste it under Slack and press Connect Slack. Bloomtack posts a first message to the channel within a couple of minutes.
  3. Choose which notices go to Slack in the new Slack column.

The webhook URL works like a password: Bloomtack stores it encrypted and never shows it again. Use another channel replaces it, and Disconnect Slack stops the messages (you can undo that for 10 seconds). Security and billing notices never go to Slack, because a channel is often shared with a team. If Slack stops taking the messages (the app was removed or the channel archived), Bloomtack disconnects it and tells you in the app.

A daily digest

New pins waiting for review and pins that went live can happen many times a day, so Slack and email get them as one digest a day at 8:00 in your workspace's time zone, such as "12 new pins are waiting for your review", with a link to the review queue. The digest only links there; it never approves anything. Email is off for these two until you turn it on. Every other notice arrives as it happens.

Good to know

Notices are kept for 90 days. Each person chooses their own settings; they do not change what your teammates get.
