AI keys explained
Bloomtack works fully without AI. Connect your own key from a provider such as Google Gemini or OpenRouter to add AI-written text, AI images or AI video.
Bloomtack designs, writes and schedules pins without any AI. If you want AI help on top, you connect a key from an AI provider you choose. You pay that provider directly for what you use; Bloomtack charges nothing for AI and adds no AI credits or limits of its own.
What works without a key
- Pin designs from your post images, stock photos, text-only and list templates.
- Pin text written from your post's own words: headline, title, description and alt text in three angles.
- Template video pins with motion, made on our servers.
- Scheduling, publishing and learning which designs work.
What a key adds

Providers you can use
OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, xAI, Mistral, DeepSeek and Groq. Google Gemini and OpenRouter are the easiest, low-cost places to start. See Get an AI key.
Pick a provider per task
Under AI tasks, for each task (pin titles and descriptions, AI images, AI video, board suggestions) you choose one of your keys and a model, or No AI, then press Save AI tasks. When a key can run a task that has no AI yet, Bloomtack suggests a model for it, and you confirm.
When a key stops working
If a key is invalid, out of credit or rate-limited, its status in Settings → AI keys says so, and owners and admins get a notice in the app and by email. Bloomtack never falls back to a key of its own:
- Pin text falls back to text written without AI.
- AI images and AI videos are left out; the post keeps its other designs and its template video pins.
Who can manage keys
Owners and admins can add, test, replace and remove keys, and choose which key each task uses.
