Create pins from any page of your blog with the browser extension
Connect the Bloomtack extension with a token, then make pins for the blog post open in your browser with one click.
The Bloomtack browser extension makes pins for the page you are reading, when that page is a post on one of your blogs. It works in Chrome and in Firefox 140 or newer. Install it from your browser's add-on store.
Make a token
The extension signs in with a token, never with your password.
- In Bloomtack, open Settings → Account and find the Browser extension card.
- Press Make a token. If you signed in more than 5 minutes ago, Bloomtack first asks you to confirm it is you. Under Token name, give it a name that says where you use it, for example "Chrome on this computer", and press Make token.
- Press Copy token. The token is shown only once, so paste it before you press I saved it.
A token makes pins in the workspace that was open when you made it. For another workspace, switch to it first and make a token there. You can hold up to 10 tokens.
Connect the extension
Click the Bloomtack icon in your browser's toolbar, paste the token in Extension token and press Connect. A token starts with bte_; anything else is refused. In Firefox, the extension then asks to reach Bloomtack's server: press Allow, then choose Allow in the browser's prompt.
Make pins
Open a post on your blog, click the extension and press Create pins from this page. Bloomtack reads the post, and the new pins appear in the review queue a few minutes later. Open Review in the extension takes you there.
What the extension sees and sends
- It sees only the address of the tab you clicked it in, and only at that moment. It never reads the pages you visit and does not run in the background.
- It sends that address and your token to Bloomtack, and nothing else. The token stays in this browser and is never synced to other devices.
When a page is refused
- This page is not on one of your blogs in the workspace named in the message: the page belongs to a site that is not a blog of that workspace. Press Add the blog in Bloomtack and add it first.
- Your role in the workspace can review pins but not create them: reviewers cannot make pins. See Roles and permissions.
- This extension token does not work any more: the token was revoked. Make a new one and paste it again.
- Open a page of your blog: the tab is not a web page, for example a new tab or the browser's settings.
Revoke a token
In Settings → Account, press Revoke next to the token and confirm with Revoke token. It stops working at once. The list shows each token's last four characters and when it was last used, so you can spot one you no longer need.
