Update your payment method

Change the card you pay with, and what happens when a payment fails.

Billing runs on Stripe; Bloomtack never sees your full card number.

Change your card

  1. Open Settings, then Billing, and press Invoices, card and tax ID. For your safety, Bloomtack may ask you to sign in again first.
  2. On Stripe's billing page, add the new card and make it the default.

The next payment uses the new card.

When your card is about to expire

  • If the card you pay with expires before your next payment, the person who manages billing gets an email up to 30 days before the card expires, naming the card by its brand and last four digits. Owners and admins also see a notice in the bell.
  • You get it once for each card and expiry date, and not at all when your plan ends before the next payment.
  • Many banks send new card details to Stripe on their own. When that happens, Stripe updates the card for you and the person who manages billing gets an email saying so. You do not need to do anything.

When a payment fails

  • Billing shows Payment failed, and a banner at the top of the app says Stripe could not charge your card.
  • The person who manages billing gets an email with an Update your card button, at most once a day, and owners and admins see a notice in the bell.
  • Stripe tries the payment again over the following days. Your workspaces keep working and publishing while it does.
  • Update your card as soon as you can; Stripe uses the new card for its next try.
  • If the payment still fails when Stripe's tries run out, your plan ends. Your pins, blogs and settings are kept, read-only, until you start a plan again in Settings, Billing.
